OUR HISTORY

In 1969, the Strasburg Area Women's Club recognized the need for a local library and opened the Strasburg Reading Center located in a single room in the former Lutheran Manse. Ten years later, the library moved into the Shroy House on S. Decatur St. and was named the Strasburg Library Center.  In 1984 Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Heisler gifted to the library the building at 108 W. Main St in Strasburg. The interior renovation of the Strasburg-Heisler Library was funded by Mr and Mrs. Abram Keener. The construction work was done by George Desmond Jr. who is the son-in-law of the Keeners. In 1996 the library moved yet again to its current location at 143 Precision Ave. and maintains the name of its benefactor. As our history shows, we have always been supported by the generous citizens of our community and individuals dedicated to the betterment of Strasburg.
